Armwrestling is a strength sport that keeps me fit and healthy, both mind and body
If you want to become fit and healthy, arm westling is a great way to do this. There are two big clubs in Vancouver BC and thier are arm wrestling clubs in almost every city in the world. The people at these clubs are very friendly and want to train and compete with others that want to keep fit.
The sport of arm wrestling can help improve your: mental health, physical strength, cardiovascular strength and endurance, competetiveness
People can armwrestle competitively untill they are around 60 years old. In most competitive sports, people retire much younger and well below 40 years of age. Arm wrestling keeps me young and people that guess my age, believe that I am 10 or 15 years younger that what I actualy am.
Why train ? to stay fit and also for the love of the sport
People ask me - why should I arm wrestle, I am not that good at it? I used to say that first, you have to love the sport, but now I say that I train to stay healthy and for many other reasons.
I have grown to love the sport, because it has brought me many good things including: competing, meeting good people, travelling around the country and world,
I made this website and videos because I have found that I love to help people reach thier goals. Every person had different goals that they want to achive, both mentally and physically. If you want to become healthier, you have come to the write place.
Clayton Faulconer will not hold back any information that will help you become healthier or a better arm wrestler. I will teach you everything I have learned over the last 32 years and if you beat me, then good for you. Many successful sports athletes tend to keep their winning, a secret or private, because they do not want other to become better than them. I do not hold back any infomation and want to help make all people healthier and better no matter the level they are at.
When Clayton was growing up and young, it took me until I was 13 years old to beat my mother, and until I was 14 years old to beat my sister who was two years older than me. It took me untill I was around 23 to be able to over power my father.
Arm wrestling training tips:
I have not always been good at arm wrestling.
For the first couple of years, In large tournaments, I would lose more matches than I won. When I would lose, I would not get frustrated, depressed, and quit. I would look at ways to train harder, better and figure out the ways to win.
I always encourage people to work on both their strengths and weaknesses. Work on your strengths or what you are good at to win and also work on your weaknesses.
This will make you well balanced and this will enable you to change the technique you use during one match. This is a big advantage and many people are only good at one thing. For example: one match can have several starts due to fouls. Switching from a top-roll to a hook in one match will confuse your opponent and they will not know how to defend. Being fast and getting into the technique you want is key.
During a tournament, I like to watch how competitors in my class prefer to move. They will use the move which they are the best at. When I compete against these people, I use the technique that is opposite to that they want to move. For example, If your competitor prefers to top-roll, I will do the opposite and hook them or If your competitor wants to hook, you pull him into thier weakness and top-roll.
Developing Well-Balanced Training
To make you a well balanced arm wrestler, every arm wrestling training session should include the following:
- mock starts
- top-rolls
- hooks
- side pressure
- straps
Practicing all of these components will work to your advantage throughout your arm wrestling path.
Order of training - arm wrestle before weight training
When arm wrestling you typically give 110% and it is difficult to control or limit this. I recommend arm wrestling before strength training with weights.
Essentially, arm wrestle first and strength train afterwards. Doing strength training after you arm wrestle will allow you to more easily read and understand your body to control your training and stop when necessary. This order of training reduces risk of injury and excessive fatigue.
To be a great arm wrestler, you need to be good at 4 things: 1 speed, 2 strength, 3 technique, 4 phycology
I can help you become better and all 4 of these things
